The Beacon's Scholarship A-Plenty

Established in 2021 by the owners of the famous southern landmark, The Beacon Drive-In, this scholarship supports residents of the city of Spartanburg, SC, seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree at USC Upstate. To be considered, applicants must: transfer from Spartanburg Community College with a minimum of 30 credit hours, be residents of the city of Spartanburg, SC, have demonstrated financial need, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and seeking to learn “a-plenty.” In addition, the applicant must write a well thought out and genuine 5-8 sentence paragraph explaining how this scholarship will benefit them. The recipient will receive $2,500 for the academic year ($1,250/semester) and be known as “The Beacon Scholar.”
